Say. Do. Now. Later. Now.

An internal dialogue from the last few months. Can you relate?

I'd like to do ABC, but I'm busy. Put it on my to-do list.

I really want to (ought to, must do) ABC, but this “busy” thing just won't let up.

I want to make ABC a priority, but gosh, busy again...and tired. How does Oprah do it? Right, she has a staff.

I'll regroup this weekend, then start ABC next week—on Monday.

Great, someone else is doing/has done ABC-and D. What's my excuse?

Ooh, a little bit of time! Perfect opportunity to jumpstart ABC... What the heck? I just spent three hours catching up on CSI? The internet is evil.

Why do I want to do ABC again? Argh, the curse of ambition! Why can't I just be content as an underachiever?

I just stumbled across my to-do list from 200x. Guess what's on it?

My inability to get ABC done is starting to screw with my self-esteem.

I'm reading a self-help book. When I feel better about myself I'll tackle ABC.

I get it now, it's not me—I'm okay the way I am. ABC is the problem. It needs to be “redefined”.

    ABC is now XYZ.
The last two sections of this article pinpoint what ails me. The author's advice is similar to an approach that I decided to follow in January. I'll touch on that in a different post.

Now, I'm off to go get something done.

Hmmm. Thanks for this post and article link. I definitely have more than a few ABCs and XYZs to tackle - not now, but right now.

Here's to productivity and commitment!

Hi BlackGirl in Prague, I stumbled on your blog because I am thinking of teaching English overseas and I've read a variety of different tales and myths about the "black" experience in Prague. Now ofcourse these tales and myths are just that -- tales and myths. If possible could you please blog about your experience and give me the raw truth of living in Prague. Frankly, I just want to know whether I am going to be doing plenty of jogging or running away from a mob of neo-nazis, or just get hassled around, and so on...I am a BlackMale currently living in Canada. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I know this is not at all related to your post, but I just want to say I love your blog! I'm currently doing the temporary expat gig by studying for my MA in London (and blogging about my experience being American and black in the UK), so I love it when I come across blog by other black expats!

Hey,
I stumbled on your blog while doing some research before my move to Prague. I'm also Nigerian, and from the U.S. and I'm here for a few months for an internship. I love it so far, the city is great, beautiful of course, and its so easy to get around.

And to the commenter above who wants a more personal view on life here, from my short time here, I haven't had any problems, people seem quite tolerant, curious if anything, judging by the stares. I think they're so eager to be modern and cosmopolitan here so if anything they would be welcoming of diversity, I may be wrong but thats my perception so far.
Anyway, BlackGirl, if you want to meet up for coffee to chat about life here and stuff, I would appreciate that. It would be great to meet more people.

@BlkChkLondon: Thanks for reading the blog. Welcome to Europe. :) Have you been to Borough Market? Love that place.

@Dami: Another Nigerian in Prague? Awesome! I'll contact via email and set up coffee talk.

@Anon: I think your questions deserve a post as a response. But in a nutshell, Dami's comments read about right. Skinheads run amok? Only once a year, but then they get a sound butt kicking from the Fascists. lol. Seriously, things are relatively okay here for black people. I had similar misgivings, but showed up here and was pleasantly surprised.
